Common questions
- Do I need an account?
- Not to explore — the board, engine analysis, and Game Search on the game database all work without signing in. You do need a free account to import your own games and build a library (which then backs up and syncs across devices), and for Pro features.
- Where is my data stored?
- Your games and repertoire are stored in your browser first — instant, and they work offline — then back up to your account automatically so they follow you across devices. It's local-first, not cloud-only; you can turn backup off in Settings. Cloud storage is secured by Clerk. (Building a library requires a free account.)
- How do I share a position?
- Use Board → Copy position link in the workbench. Anyone opening that URL loads the same FEN in FlexiChess.
- What is Pro?
- Pro is the edge: opponent scouting for every event (up to 1,000 reports a month), a coach sized for daily prep (up to 300 questions a week), and a cloud library across all your devices — generous ceilings sized so real prep never hits them (the exact numbers are in the Plan limits table below). The full workstation — database search, FSRS training, game review — is free, with sync via a free account. See /pricing.
- How does Pro billing work?
- Pro is a monthly or annual subscription processed by Polar, our Merchant of Record. You can cancel anytime from your account or Polar's customer portal; your plan stays active until the end of the paid period. Payments are non-refundable except where required by law.
Plan limits
Coach quotas reset weekly (Monday UTC). Pro limits are generous fair-use ceilings — set well above normal use, not metered. Cloud caps are total storage, not monthly. See pricing.
